Plitvice Lakes - Beautiful National Park in Winter
71''Karst'' - place inside the Plitvice
After seeing the beautiful town of Zadar, we went to Dubrovnik on the east and then we returned to Trogir. And now we're going towards west. To the magnificent work of Nature called '''Plitvice Lakes''. It's one of my recommendation to visit if you're in Croatia. I've been there twice and I never regret it. It's a location ''must visit'' to all tourists out there. You can start thinking about visiting it after your read this hub about it.
''Plitvice Lakes'' is the most famous Croatian national park, it's also in the world heritage list of UNESCO. The main attraction of this unique park consists of 16 little lakes which are connected with waterfalls. The park includes the famous spring of the Korana, several caves, springs, flower meadows, and among many animal species there's a place where brown bears live.

Gastronomy and Historical Monuments
''Lika Cuisine'' is one of the famous cuisine in Dalmatia and has a great impact on ''Plitvice Lakes''. Lika Cuisine consists of cooking and baking over an open fire, as the case with regions closer to the sea. Everyday meals include predominantly continental products - pura (or polenta) , boiled maize and boiled potatoes.
Cultural and historical monuments:
The park hasn't any significant remnants of cultural heritage, but it is interesting to note that archaeological excavations have shown that the area of the park was the prehistoric settlement of the town called ''Gradina''. Archaeologists also discovered the remains of fortifications of the Illyrian tribes Japodi. At the same place the Romans built a watchtower on the basis of which was later built a fortified monastery.

Thank you for another beautiful hub and relaxing video. I visited Plitvice in 1973 and agree that it is so very beautiful and must be seen by all.
I went several times when I lived in Zagreb. It's a stunning place. I heard there had been some war damage to the park, is that healed up now?
Lika cuisine - Licki sir is something I miss so much!
